This is also a product of having legislative floor leaders be the most prominent party leaders around, and they don't really have the money or the staff to address shit like that

We should really have an official Party Leader when we're out of power. Even if they don't have any formal organizational power, having that figure helps feel less in the wilderness Heck, call them the Shadow President. And I think my nomination is clearly AOC.
My idea: state executives lead the shadow cabinet, are elected by the DNC, and the National Party President picks shadow secretaries from either house of Congress + other offices. This brings the factions together. https://bsky.app/profile/harrybeary.bsky.social/post/3li3k5sp5jk2d
I would be open to the idea that the Shadow President is chosen by the governors, but I don't like the idea that they could be accused of diverting attention from their own state issues pretty easily if they focus too much on being Shadow VA Secretary.
I agree. Would prefer keeping state execs from portfolio positions.
National President: nominated by/among DGA
National Vice President: nominated by/among DLGA
Opposition Attorney General: nominated by/among DAGA
everyone else: picked from Congress or elsewhere
The reason I'd pick from those three for those roles is because state execs are already expected to do tangible executive work (or, in DAGA's case, federal suits), and can use it to back up their "Act-like-shadow-POTUS" performance (call it "counter-proclamations") at the same time.
Would also provide good presidential auditioning ground for talents to raise their political stature. Buttigieg and AOC again come to mind as people who could use some hefty titles like National President of the Democratic Party.

Pritzker, Whitmer, Walz already act like "America's real parents" lol
he has to let go part of his ego and try to work with others, coalitions don't build themselves on bickering
people being sharp with words still need to translate that to action
