It is a big effort of many individual and corporate supporters.
it also points to a better possible world of sustainable media and digital services. even platform cooperatives to replace companies like Amazon. we just need to make paying people directly easier. a fiat payment open protocol perhaps.
It's a shame that it isn't growing as fast as some alternatives, but the slow but sustainable growth alongside the evolution of the technology makes it feel much more like "technology as infrastructure" than the "technology as […]

Something that many people here tend to ignore.
We are in utter need of more third places that are non-commercial. With public institutions — libraries, universities and more — joining the Fediverse I am hopeful that another web is possible again.
