It’s kind of a joke, but kind of isn’t. ⚓️🕯️

I’ve *really* been grappling with what it means to pray for my enemies lately

Ive been praying for the Holy Spirit to help me know how to pray for our enemies and persecutors.
Usually I wind up praying for their repentance and God's mercy on them

There’s something to “May the Lord bless and keep the Tsar … far away from us!”

At the risk of overanalyzing a laugh line, there’s a fair amount of grace in that. Presumably the good rabbi has read the Psalms.

Yeah. I’m trying to do more than just pray imprecatory psalms in their direction. It’s emotionally difficult work.

I like the BCP's prayer for enemies. It keeps me humble and pushes me to remember to not be like the legalist praying "God I thank you that I'm not like this sinner."
No. It is God lead us both to repentence and the seeking of your mercy!
