This feels too optimistic at the moment. Not seeing the outrage yet from R legislators (who often block Medicare expansion, so govt in health is also "bad"). Also, how pervasive is a belief that "the free market will take care of it!"? As if that's how healthcare operated. 🙁

I think people need to be made aware of the loopholes that these places use.

The health care teams tend to take the brunt of the abuse as the populace is usually unaware that these insurance companies hire doctors, psychologists, counselors, etc.. as a weapon against other doctors.

These armchair "specialists" never see the patient beyond what is stated in a case file. The review calls to justify medical necessity as "their doctor" disagreed are time-consuming and can lead to delays in treatment if missed. And to be honest, not one patient asked for their second opinion.

There are several common sense solutions. Here's 2:
1) Payment decisions are medical decisions and subject to malpractice suits and loss of licensure
2) We need monetary penalties for failure to pay valid claims comparable for those for submitting fraudulent claims.

At the same time, cutting social security has had ~0% approval rating, and yet it's been what Republicans have been chomping at the bit to do for the last ~45 years.

Bipartisanship with people who didn't actually want to govern and who just want to strip the government for parts *IS NOT GOOD.*

I think it’ll depend on how many have had bad experiences with insurance or is close to someone else who has. I talked to several people in person yesterday that were adamant that insurance companies are not at fault.
