One of my red flags is when someone asks me “Are you okay?” instead of “How are you?”

I’ll try to remember that. I sometimes say the former, but with no judgement or ill intent. “How are you?” seems too small talkie, to me.

I feel that any generalized question about someone’s state of well being is going to be replied to with generalized societal mask-wearing.
I would rather ask specific question about topics we had previously discussed, like “Did you get your test results?” or some such.

also, “are you okay?” sounds like a nicer version of “what’s wrong with you?”

It also does not invite to a sincere answer. Hardly anyone would dare to say no.
