Economists have said repeatedly that rates should have been cut before now.
I don't think the RBA will cut them as they don't want to give Labor any good news.

Doesn’t Dutton know or understand that the Reserve Bank is independent and it is improper for politicians to attempt to influence the bank. Here we have Dutton trying to influence the bank to keep interest rates high. Not for economic reasons but for political reasons.

Dutton wants the bank to keep rates high for his own political benefit. He doesn’t give a shit that Australians won’t get relief from their mortgage payments. That they might lose their houses. He doesn’t give a shit that high rates will keep unemployment high. That Australians won’t have jobs.

This is how he does things, interview, casting doubt about everything that the Government does.
