What I find SUPER WILD about early Furry Fanzines is how the fanzine contributors would ACTUALLY LIST THEIR REAL LIFE ADDRESSES at the bottom of their contributions!

Something NOBODY in their sane mind would even consider doing nowadays because of doxxing!

Back before the internet that was the main way we kept up with each other. We put our addresses in Rowbrazzle, Furryphile and other fanzines so we could connect with others of like mind. Writing letters was usually accompanied with art and short stories.

Then the internet happened.

It was a different time. You will find the same stuff with small media publications and ttrpg systems, where writers put in everything including their adress and university.

The ability to share and access such things was less at the time. You couldn't just put search terms into a web browser and have it spit out all the data, these were things meant to be shared at cons where everyone there was part of the fandom and not an outsider.

Because that's how we were able to communicate with our favorite artists back in the day. The only way, outside of cons.

Everything was mail based. Companies, and yes, single proprietors did business via US Mail.

I remember going back and forth with an artist on revisions to a commission...

I can go to an art club location on my home MUCK and see volunteered legal names & mailing addresses for connecting and sharing between furs. All left from the 90s when today's concerns weren't yet to be. Truly was a different era of internet.

On FurryMUCK you had to fax in a copy of your ID so your profile can be adult flagged in order to interact in adult areas.
