can't understand why you think this is 'brilliant' - DCC tackling Airbnb is challenged by weak rules due to Govt - any act that hits the hugely profitable mass unit landlords creaming off the system and blocking rental housing is to be welcomed. No one is saying it is the solution to Dublin 'mess'.

I've a fundamental problem with wasting taxpayer money on such tokenism as removing these locks instead of doing something that actually addresses the problem.

also, I'm definitely up for this as use of my local property tax funds - and it being used to strengthen their actions on any front against the illegal let industry ( while the Govt delays) and which is blocking #housing - which is issue not 'over-tourism'

Yes to an extent, but they are also 'strangled' by a lack of will do implement the changes we need.

That's not to say that there aren't good politicians on the council and excellent staff within the council, but overall, the city remains terribly mismanaged.

the key is Government shelving of the Citizens Assembly Report on Dublin. DCC, local authorities in Ireland, has limited power. Easy to criticise - harder to take current unreformed LA system and the legal powers on short-term letting and implement results.
