All signs so far point to this being the permanent state of national politics. Even if there’s fair elections our international relations are completely torched this time. No apology tour is going to fix that like 2009.
Not to mention the complete destruction of the executive branch, completely mask off partisan courts, and coming privatization/enshitification of all government services.
i doubt we're getting out of this one seeing as how they're firing everyone and gutting the infrastructure to make sure that even if we somehow depose them (which we won't), we can't rebuild the system
granted, i don't mean that to say it'll never get better but we can go ahead and bury any notion that the Old System is ever going to be a thing again -- whatever comes after this must be braced and reinforced to prevent this
