I repeat this question: why are GOP lawmakers impotent? Why are they making a mockery of a constitutional order that exists to stop a rogue president?

That's not a reason NOT to do the right thing.
Compromising material and information.
Proof of crimes, affairs, etc. they committed.
And probably veiled threats to them and their families.

I think there are three main reasons for the silence of GOP lawmakers.
1) Tribalism. Stick together; don't rock the boat (go along to get along), plus that preeminent Republican rule of Congress: don't criticize other Republicans. Ingrained, & a decades-long habit.
