They can help to collapse that cult. The others will listen to former members when they listen to no one else. The most important effective voice in influencing someone in a cult is a former cultist who left. We need to contain our rage.

Yes, & mainly, just avoid berating & humiliating those who now have regrets. We all know that it's useless to try to talk to the indoctrinated. But the ones who are starting to understand should not be browbeaten, because that just drives them back in. Every "I told you so" loses us another convert.

Deprogramming rarely works when it’s individualized and the person is separated from the group. It has never been done collectively while the charismatic leader is still in place. We’re not going to move them until he dies.

I live in one of the reddest states. A lot of them are just poor, angry and tired, like the rest of us. They lack the time/resources to self-educate, so believe what they hear in what little news they consume and from their communities.

Better to help them know better, than to lambast them for it.
