Even better, limit total spent for both parties. Make all interviews ask same question of each. NO electoral college. Make them speak to the same crowds, same time.
We are the example of how not to be & democratic countries are paying attention. It’s unfortunate that our OWN government leaders’ greed is greater than their integrity & moral principles. The IS citizens have allowed themselves to become victims of their Party’s corruption. BOTH PARTIES.
There are ways around it with a preferential voting system. Clive Palmer created a dodgy political party here in Australia that just fed their preferences to the LNP (conservative party).
