A thing about cars is that you can rent one if you need one occasionally, but the amount of bullshit you have to go through with a car to have one for necessary daily living... people just don't want it. And the overuse of cars means that most of these people have HAD to go car-free at some point

Young Americans may not *want* to own a car, but most will have to drive b/c cars are usually the only option when you have a job and kids.

Also, they interviewed 1,000 people, split the results by age, and found the younger cohort was more willing to go a mixed mobility route - 44% of that group vs 11% older cohort
