more than anything it depends on the kinda flavor you wanna have in your game. curse of strahd is prob the best 5e module, but comes with spooky hammer horror flavor. for a more classic fantasy feel, ice spire peak or phandelver are great

Wild Beyond the Witchlight. It’s whimsical with a dark twist and can have as much or little combat as your players want to have and interesting NPC’s to play around with. My only complaint was the final “dungeon” but there are free revamped maps on Reddit.

I can throughly recommend Waterdeep: Dragonheist. It’s simple, doesn’t bombard you with characters to keep track of, has a good amount of downtime before things kick off and is just nice and easy to run given the low level of the characters. The only real trouble is clues and starting the third arc.

That can absolutely happen if the DM doesn’t know how to feed the clues or the players just aren’t picking them up. In those cases, I’d say it’s fair to be a little heavy handed out of game to make sure the players don’t get frustrated.

It especially didn't help when the lunkheaded Monk blatantly yet accidentally Burn Noticed my character's Harper status after forcing her to admit she was a Harper the previous day: with threats of violence nonetheless.

Dragon of Icespire Peak has a lot done, with a lot of wiggle room for new DMs it was great for my overplanning ass at the time. Now I'm sure it's fun for just a low effort table.

Been a while since I did a module but Curse of Strahd, Decent into Avernus, and Waterdeep's stuff, there's also Tomb of Annihilation and Storm King's Thunder if you're looking for Wizard's of the Coast stuff.

Friend of mine recommended me the Scarlet Citadel a few months back but never got to play.

A House Divided.

It's a Foundry exclusive but is far and away the single richest DnD experience I have had as a DM.

Music, macros, SFX, maps, NPCs, reputation system, multiple endings, diverse and original monsters, 3 planes and 5 maps in each.

Fucking flawless. Worth migrating to Foundry for.

Curse of Strahd is the best written module, IMO.
It's somewhat open world, as players choose where they go in Ravenloft, so you're given enough tools and info to handle that.
