As a note, an iPhone as old as the 2nd gen SE will provide full ARKit (it’s what I used until I broke it) — and of course there’s no need for it to be able to connect to cellular. Should help expand budget options for ARkit.

Now the 2nd Gen SE didn’t COME with the face tracking needed for ARkit, it needed an update, so despite any conflicting info I can confirm it 100% works
While that's true, there's some issues with futureproofing - if I'm going to be shelling out money for a phone I'd prefer to use one that isn't going to risk the hardware dying in a year, especially with how difficult Apple makes it to repair stuff.
If you’re planning on using it as like, a phone, yeah that’s a very fair point. But there’s extremely little risk of an old phone “just stopping” if you’re alright with keeping it on a charger and it just stays at home.
Just wanted to put the word out for the budget conscious!
