The problem in Trump's plan, consumers will have less purchasing power, and cut back. This in higher prices, from import goods with added tariffs, and domestically from a loss of low cost import competition. If consumers aren't buying, businesses aren't building new capacity and hiring. A big whammy

On-shoring production will take years, and is not a guarantee of jobs, particularly low-skill manufacturing jobs lost through globalization. What does come back will be hugely automated, with the ultimate goal of eliminating human labour altogether. There is only one group that wins here.
