Just reading about a fly that lays eggs on a toad’s skin and then the larvae crawl up the toad’s nostrils and eat its insides. Good old nature. So fluffy, so calming.

I was very excited to show my kids a toad at a nature reserve. Just sitting there. Looking a bit flared nostrilled.... yeah... full of maggots. Very very grim. That was the day I, too, learned of the toad fly.
Ooh, I wasn't aware of toads having their own kind of botflies. Sheep & horses yes, but toads too, cool... I guess if the toad one actually eats the host and kills it, then its not a true parasite.
