There are firearms in my home in a safe. I am not trained on them nor do I want to be. My husband, though (non-MAGA) IS trained on their use. He's the owner.

Not really. Gun laws were generally less strict in Nazi Germany than they were before 1933. If the bad guys have a modern military on their side, gun ownership by private citizens is nearly irrelevant.
