But I think this is the issue - too many people have started, say, calling feeling sad "depression" and are overloading the system such that true issues, such as your son, get lost in the system and the (lack of) funding

We were similar with my daughter. We had to push and push and push. And, when I worked as the head teacher in a psychiatric hospital, a lot of patients ended up there because they were autistic and not diagnosed, ending up in crisis.
