For real! So many times people made accounts or whatever (me too) and just didn't care to post here! But Elon fucks messed with the wrong crowd this time. And bluesky has the features now to actually convince people! It's not perfect but it's so much better!
i'm seeing a lot of sentiments on here about how 'twitter users always do this' but like. i don't think they realize how badly twitter fucked up this time
Never heard of this place until this recent one and it seems the same for many. I highly doubt Twitter will be destroyed or significantly hurt by this but still.
Between the two as for now I'm much more in favor of Twitter for various reasons. Mainly due to how the TL works here.
I do think the reasoning for said recent exodus is overall stupid but it's really whatever. Better to segregate like we did before and keep to our own sandboxes. I think both should coexist to keep people who simply don't get along away from each other. I hope Bluesky thrives even if it's not for me
woah, it's probably the artists?? I did start using my acct here when i saw a lot of artists began to post their accts here to follow.. and i follow where the artist goes..
One thing I've always missed over here were the Japanese artists/creators I follow on twitter.
Twitter fucked this up royally enough to make even them migrate to another platform.
The fact that it isn't invite only anymore also helps a lot I guess?
a lot of my jp/kr art and gamedev friends have moved over this time around, i'm hoping soon there'll be very little reason to be there anymore (i guess except to advertise game and merch to whoever's left)
It's because a lot of the artist I follow came here. So, I also came here. If they stay here, I'll stay here. But that's from a 'watcher' angle, rather than having anything meaningful to create.
I knew it was over when the Japanese Twitter artists started jumping. Enforced AI training and block creeping at the same time? Elon is his own worst enemy.
The whole “we’re gonna feed your photos to the slop machine and now you have 0 say in it” and taking away blocking was the final straw for a lot of people including myself
The latter of those also violates regulations in a bunch of countries so unless they roll it back no more Twitter there anyways
This is something else indeed. I expect Bluesky to blow up whenever there's an exodus, but this took everything and managed to crank it HIGHER than 11.
Well, it's not hard to see why. Twitter changing the block feature to not stop people from being able to stalk profiles is the worst decision Elon has made. It genuinely makes Twitter more dangerous to be on.
feels like maybe it's a combo of bsky having just enough features plus twitter making just a bad enough series of changes plus just the right amount of artists making the leap?? also WOW i forgot how frustrating twt is with all the sponsored and promoted bs it's so refreshing here rn
it's genuinely so nice, i've fallen out of love with social media so much lately despite the numbers going up tm and this just feels...idk it feels like old times :') let's see how it goes
People who keep saying "you'll come crawling back in a week" don't seem to understand it's not hard to use multiple social medias. There's no need for that kind of brand loyalty.
For me it was the final push, I've had an account on the ready but for the other platform it was clear more changes were going to come that I felt were too unnecessary and it's a never ending cycle.

A real no going back moment.

That time it seemed like many people just wanted to get dibs on their username and keep this as a possible Plan B.
I really hope that this keeps up and manages to establish itself as the SNS from that Bubble.

It's even bigger than the first one, and now the site is actually feature ready!
Truly we have an active platform now
