…A single stage race goes on for hours, and grand tour goes for three weeks, which sounds like a lot - but in our current ‘always half distracted by your phone’ style of viewing, it’s the perfect background sport to get into.

On the surface, beautiful views of mountains and fields of sunflowers…

…and this is what we all need right now. At a time when everything is happening all at once, relentlessly constant and exhausting… A sport where you can sit on your couch for weeks o end watching other people getting endlessly exhausted all while enjoying the view is a beautiful wonderful thing.

My heart is broken that it won’t be shown free-to-air in the UK after this year. I have watched ITV4 coverage for over ten years with my son, mesmerised by the beautiful footage, yes, but also drawn along by the commentary that never condescends to the casual viewer. It is an irreparable loss.

Same. My wife and I turned it on for background noise during chores. Then couldn’t stop watching it and over 2 yrs later, we are both obsessed and go to watch races.

I’m not quite at going to watch but watch the full show on catch up rather than the highlights. I’m very lucky to have a friend that likes it and doesn’t mind my basic questions! 😉

I also think there should be a prize for best side of road art/display!

Well we are lucky to be immigrants who live in Paris. I had watched the TdF before on tv in the background while working but never understood what I was watching and the series helped drive the drama. We’re both neurodivergent so it became a serious special interest

We've watched races beyond TfD that started in the region, but we haven't been able to see a stage yet elsewhere. Looking into it this year. Last year we planned on it, but got interrupted, but we had the Olympics go by our house so it was nice.
