My mother. I know it’s cliche, but lots of people got terrible parents who treated them like dirt or they’ve gone no-contact with. She’s gone now, but she taught me what healthy love for a child looks like so I know what I wanna emulate when I have children. She wasn’t perfect, but she gave her all.

Not counting family members, this comes to mind: the dean emeritus of my college recommended me as a teacher/professor to one of our sister schools.

He kept after me for years because, honestly, I dragged my feet on applying, etc. After three years of persistence, he got me to move abroad... I can't thank him enough for that. I lived abroad for about 7 years, and it has informed my perspective on so many things.

Years ago I was sick and had to stay in bed for 10 weeks after a hospitalization. A Facebook friend started a mealtrain for me, and dozens of people signed up. Some people sang to me while I rested, per my request.These acts of kindness made me believe that pure goodness does exist in this world.
