The elected leader is meant to look foolish and uncomfortable. This reduces their perceived authority to their in group.
You, as a sympathetic audience, are made uncomfortable, and are now talking about the act of protest, spreading the word.
I really think to cognitive dissonance is jarring and effective.
I would also like to be respectful to the trans community.
Thinking about audiences and permission structures again. Having a cishet person doing this universalizes the issue.
