My doctor told me they didn’t want me becoming addicted. My reply, so suicide from not being able to put up with the pain anymore will help you sleep better knowing I wasn’t addicted? I only have about 5-6 years of life left anyway, who cares if I cut it short as long as I’m not addicted.

I don’t think some people understand how debilitating menstrual pain can be! My daughter can hardly walk and yet still has to function as an adult with a job. She was told to take nurofen and Panadol together to take ‘the edge
off it’!!

Yes, that was me I spent 10 years in ridiculous pain and two weeks of heavy bleeding every month until a doctor diagnosed me. I was never prescribed any medication and often told ‘to get more fibre in my diet’!

Having nursed many young girls who have overdosed on Panadol and watched a 14 yr old girl die an agonising death because of a presentation too late for Parvolex I am ok with this . Panadol is a great drug for simple pain relief.

Suicide attempt from Panadol is no laughing matter . The liver can take years to recover, if at all.
Chronic pain sufferers should be able to get larger amounts of Panadol on prescription.

Correct. I nursed people who died from liver failure after a panadol o'dose more than once. A truly foul, lingering death. Managed sales of large quantities is not too hard a burden for pharmacies, given how much profit they make.

As an experienced seeker of mental health services for my family members. I can honestly say the system is well and truly fucked. $1200 for 20min ADHD assessment (3 month wait) and an $800 follow up to get a script.

MH services are underfunded by design. There are never enough inpatient MH beds in any service around the country. The waiting lists to see psychiatric and psychological services are years long and hundreds of dollars. No argument from me.

Adequate pain relief has always and will always be an issue until it’s taken seriously. At the moment we have clowns for pain relief doctors and money grabbing mfrs for pain relief suppliers. Pain is a very serious problem and should be treated accordingly.

Effective pain relief exists but every patient is treated as if they’re children. Some people have problems with drugs, treat them accordingly but don’t punish the rest of us because doing a bit of investigation is too hard for doctors to seperate the real needs from wants.

Mine are still painful and I take ibuprofen or paracetamol, but remembering back to when I was a teen first encountering it, I thought I must've been dying with some kind of internal organ failure, I had no idea it would hurt that much. I was so unprepared for it and working out how to manage it.
