The answer is very simple: Crowley was wrong on Hecate. As he was on many other things, too. His obsession with Phallicism comes to mind.

We must be able to fathom his many shortcomings all while appreciating his many strokes of genius.

In Dr Sledge's presentation, Hecate is divine feminine wisdom, but in Moonchild, Crowley totally savages her: "she is Hecate, a thing altogether of Hell, barren, hideous and malicious, the queen of death and evil witchcraft." p187-188. How can this be reconciled or are these two different beings?
