Yes it is. Will be interesting to see how it will develop and if it can match the precision of motor driven systems. Humanoid robots are interesting but I'm already seeing a bit of an augmented humanoid that goes beyond human abilities with extendable torsos and unusually long arms with extra joints

From what I can tell the majority of the humanoid robots I'm seeing are from startups in China. I read provinces are subsidizing this specific area. Not a bad idea. Several robot companies make cars as well, where the sensors and AI for autonomy can be shared among form factors as diverse as humanoid, quadroped, or 4 wheel vehicles.
