I feel like Growth As A Game Designer goes something like: Rely too much on rigid theory and lit, and try to apply it too literally all the time -> Develop a natural gut instinct for it that you soon rely on -> Learn how to convert that instinct into words so you can actually collaborate with others

And it really, really sucks when you're paired with people who don't value your expertise, and who claim to be numbers/data driven yet bend that data to whatever they need for political gain at the time. Constantly working against the stream, if you must rely on guts and logic
