Personally this is where I draw a hard line. I don't think we should necessarily shoot the message because of the messenger - though we should be wary of it. Under no circumstance should we willingly finance or promote someone that would use the money and influence for evil.
(To be clear I don’t think when people say this they are talking about “death of the author”, which doesn’t literally require an author be dead, I think when people say “we should separate art from the artist” they mean “I want to watch Sandman and not think about things”)
