I don't think you should feel shame for buying the game if it would bring you joy. There are far, far worse means of cultural engagement. And while I support people who "vote with their dollar" I prefer more active ways to make an immediate and significant impact in one's community.

Eurogamer had an even harsher critique of Daniel Vavra's politics and the game's lack of diversity in their review of the first game and they still got a review code, which means I'm pretty sure this is the reason:

Especially fun because the same Gamergate 2.0 people now hate Kingdom Come 2 and is harassing the lead dev over it. Not really worth playing into the GG crowd because they are so extremely fickle and is looking for excuses to hate games.
