Thanks for posting this, but you missed a chance to use ALT-text to make it available to people using screen readers. Here is the image with better ALT-text:
Please remember that for users of screen-readers, the *only* thing they will read is your ALT-text. If the main content of your image is text, that should be your ALT-text as well.
Posting ALT-text like “image of so-and-so’s response” is insulting and inadequate. I know you don’t mean it that way, which is why I wrote these comments.
I realize that ALT-text is internally “a description of the image”. What you need to keep in mind is that for screen-readers, the only thing they will hear is your description. What do you want to convey to them by your image? The character limit is 1000, btw.
Sometimes I've added easter eggs in the 1000 character ALT text, especially when it's NOT an image of text. I read it even though I don't strictly need it.
Also: @bsky.app should warn before posting an image of text with no ALT text. (Better yet, OCR the text and propose suitable ALT text.)
If you have the Criterion Channel, check out the 25-min. conversation they have about Mulholland Dr., ~15 years later. Her adoration for him is SO palpable, but there's a lot of other fun stuff in there, too.
Along with Kyle MacLachlan, Naomi Watts has written a beautiful tribute to David Lynch. May he rest in peace. With the exception of Dune, I love every single film that Lynch directed. My prayers go out to his family during this sad time.
