For my purposes their search engine sank without trace, but I'm a *huge* fan of scholar as a proper index (and measure) of academic 'output'. That is to say, one that includes data, software, reports, etc. -- things that an journal publisher can't easily monetize, but which most of us use every day

Same wtih ChatGPT - some won't touch it for ethical reasons - but it's an awesome tool.

Much like asking a not quite 100% reliable/perfectly knowledgeable friend for a few thoughts/ideas on a new topic - incredibly quick and useful

It was superb for research for a while, but the changes they e made now have made it about half as useful as it used to be.
