1/ My good friend @ronimore.bsky.social finally saw the actual Nebra Sky Disc, and not just my necklace, so it's a good opportunity for a short archaeological #thread. Let's start. >>

I visited the museum in Halle in April 2023 - solely for the disk. I was in awe of it AND its neighbor, the female shaman who was buried with antlers and much more approximately 9000 years ago!!
Purchased this mug, my favorite mug, at the gift store. (Also purchased many postcards and books).
2/ >> In 1999 two friends searching with a metal detector in central Germany found a treasure. They knew it was illegal & yet they removed the finds from the ground & sold the treasure in for 31,000 Deutsche Mark. >>
* The darker outline of the hole the robbers dug to remove the disc.
3/ >> The treasure was sold several more times after that moving between various owners. In 2002, via a smart sting operation in which an archaeologist from the state of Saxony took part in, the treasure was returned to the state and the finders wer e caught. >>
4/ >> What did they find? The cache included two bronze knives, two screws, a chisel & fragments of bracelets. But the most important find was the Nebra Sky Disc, named after the town next to its finding spot. The whole assembladge is fascinating and of great importance. >>
5/ >> The Nebra Sky disc is a 30 cm diameter bronze disc, which is green from the patina that clung to it and is decorated with gold. These symbols probably symbolize the sun (or full moon), crescent and stars (including a cluster of seven stars that some see as the Pleiades) and a solar ship. >>
6/ >> The dating of the disk was based on the dates of the finds found with it on site. According to the shape & style, the weapons were dated to the 2nd millennium BC, but after a C14 test was done on remains of birch wood found on one of the blades, the date was narrowed between 1600-1500 BC. >>
7/ >> The disc was thoroughly researched & more research showed that the copper came from Austria, but that some of the gold was mined in the Carpathian Mountains & some from the Cornwall area of Britain. Interestingly, the tin that was imported into the area also came from Cornwall in the UK. >>
Ah yes totally agree! The one in Halle that holds the Nebra Disk is excellent and has a superb cafe too! Refreshed ourselves after five hours in the museum!

Sita Rawi Lintang : South-East Persia-Tajikistan with a few Kawi traits (from distant crossbred with Kawi ethnic).
Rawi: sun (acronym of Tunggara Kawi).
Lintang: star (semiotic of network).
Cocroach-like reddish-yellow was color symbol of eastern Sita.
Green was green Orc Sita, originated in western Sita.
BTW, Orc really exist.
It is not fantasy world. Orc, Elf, Goblin did really exist in the past.
And a very nice necklace.
Thank you for sharing!
