One of the reasons Cecil bought the site was his personal connection, he grew up near Stonehenge and wanted to protect the site from being bought by Americans. In a sense, the purchase was an act of preservation. >>

This is part of what made Stonehenge one of the most visited monuments in the world.
Cecil Chubb was the last private owner of Stonehenge & an important piece of the site's history.
