All of these books about Autism are by Autistic people with the exception of NeuroTribes … but Steve did talk a lot about the Grateful Dead when he wasn’t talking about Autism and was (and still is) beloved by many in the Autistic Community.

It's not an educational text, but I would absolutely recommend Fern Brady's memoir Strong Female Character. She got diagnosed at 30 and the memoir is all about looking back on her life through the lens of now knowing she's autistic. I really loved it.

Microcosm publishing was founded by an autistic adult and has a lot of good resources. They have both books and zines on the topic.

More academic but I also recommend Neuroqueer heresies by Nick Walker. Her essays in general are great.
