Today, Minister Hermans informed Dutch parliament that the government's goal to have the first new nuclear power plant operational by 2035 is 'not realistic anymore'. More clarity to be provided in April.

De tweede boodschap is dat de locatiekeuze dit jaar niet meer haalbaar is. Wat deze vertraging betekent voor de uiteindelijke bouw van de twee kerncentrales, is nu nog niet te zeggen. Wel lijkt het niet meer realistisch om de eerste centrale in 2035 operationeel te hebben. /7

Last week we learned that this will require a new state energy company, since no one else wants to invest. Today, we learned that the earliest date of completion is 2036.
Fun question: What would be the energy gained if the already sunk money would have gone to off-/onshore wind parks? Sad.
