I am! For over a year now. I mostly get my news directly from news services like Associated Press and Reuters. CNN used to be my go-to, but I don't know what the hell happened. Ditto for WaPo.
Me too! A a former news junkie, my brain and heart can't take it anymore. I feel as if I’m hiding my head under the sand, but I have to stay sane. Bluesky is my only news. I check every morning to see if he passed away during the night. 🤞🏼
I also don’t drive a Tesla or use PayPal, i’m going to be adding tonthe list in the New Year, starting with companies who pay poor wages and expect tax payers to pick up the slack with benefits. Oh, and healthcare companies will be next.
Been off cable news for decades. Best news sources are NPR, AP, Al Jazeera, local news, and at least for Gaza, the right people on Instagram. I periodically scan headlines on msm to go find out what’s actually true from multiple other sources.
Me! I haven’t watched since Nov 6 either. Honestly, I haven’t watched SNL either. I’ve been streaming movies. Before 11/06, pretty much watched MSNBC several hours a day every day. It’s cleansing to read my news. No X (Twitter) since 11/6. I went back to
FB on 11/26.
I haven’t had cable for more than 15 years and have never been happier. Streaming gives you much more refined control of your entertainment. No longer force fed shows you’re not interested in from a fire hose of blandness
12 years for me, and I love streaming! I live with my dog and the shows are not just entertainment but also company. I love fictional horror only, and how it transports me from reality horror. My grands give me joy and purpose, they are my reason to fight.
You're an adult. Not an AA victim of manipulative religious abuse. Please, stop counting/reminding people of some basic shit that no one needs to give a fuck about. If you dropped it, good for you, but stop reminding everyone else as if it's a goal not easily attainable. Pull plug = walk away. EzGg
Check into who owns your local news stations. The biggest news station in my state of Rhode island, is owned by Sinclair broadcasting. They are one of the biggest owners of local news stations across the country and they are very right wing.
I haven't turned on cable news since 2020, after Biden was elected. I used to watch MSNBC 24/7 during Yam Tits admin, out of fear. Just my local am news ia all I now watch
even that depending on where you are, may be a tool of the right. i did subscribe to my local paper until they tried to rip me off for almost $400.
I'll turn on the local for weather or specific events from time to time.
We fell off the wagon and watched Rachel Maddow for like 15 minutes on the day that the Gaetz report was released. Other than that, we're clean and sober.
Same here. I just can't find myself to watch it anymore. They are all normalizing Trump just because he had won. The media was complicit in his winning because most of them never covered or reported on him the way they should have for the goodness of this country. MSM failed this country.
I’ve only just re-started watching MSNBC. I have great respect for Rachel Maddow and Lawrence O’Donnell, in particular. They don’t capitulate. I’m still evaluating the rest.
I quit watching right after 9/11. I saw then the news was being sensationalized and they were trying to manipulate me. I refused to be part of the game.
Me, too! I've limited independent media, as well, if they talk about trump.
I only religiously follow Ukraine news sources (Jake Broe, Operator Starsky, etc.)
I am at like 55 days. I tried listening a little the 1st few days… I couldn’t. It has been a huge adjustment that I will admit I have struggled w/. I always - since my 20’s have had the news on all the time. Background noise if nothing else. I have been a bit lost to be honest try music/podcast now.
MSNBC are full of information that people R’s and D’s alike should watch to keep up with what’s actually happening. May be biased on the fight for democracy and the people that should be in power but honestly they’re there for good not for evil.
Wish I had kept track of time off cable news but it has been many months now. The talking heads drove me crazy with nothing helpful to offer. Also canceled my on line subscriptions to NYT and WP.
I keep checking #CNN from time to time if there is any update on Ukraine's fight for their life or literally anything else in this world aside from that guy. Nope. They did talk about the weather today, so thats something.
I also tried to do what you were doing now; told myself NOT to watch cable news and I did on Nov 6 to Nov 24, then I started to take a small glimpse to know what the hell is the MORON-President elect is trying to chaos up this time, but never stayed for more than 60 secs, then turn off cable news
How many days are in a decade? I don't even watch local news, the biggest station in RI, is owned by Sinclair media, so they have their bullshit right wing spiel to spout off, and that wretch Sheryl Atkison on every sunday
Cable news died years ago for most people under the age of 30. Get off cable and download TikTok for the next 3 weeks. At least there's a broader point of view.

Not paying for commercials and propaganda.

Local TV news broadcasts only.
Not a dime for the next four years at least for the media that failed us so miserably. MAGA can watch all the crap between the drug ads.
I stopped watching CNN in 2016.
Turn or your radio.
Support your local public broadcasting station.
I have the coffee mugs to prove it.
I only religiously follow Ukraine news sources (Jake Broe, Operator Starsky, etc.)
Corporate news is a waste of time.
Sorry I don’t follow who the foreign jerks are
And paying for the internet
Use the socialist library
But yes, no TV or linear media
