You don’t see the picture of Obama in the tan suit? Are you really not seeing the picture of Obama in a tan suit? If you’re under 25, I’ll give you a break not knowing about Obama in the tan suit. But if you’re over 25, you have no excuse not knowing about the obvious juxtaposition of this post.
I know about the tan suit — guess I saw the blue suit as conventional and read too many comments focused on general appearance to actually get the drift of the post
As I look over the crowd I see several men in blue suits including the Prince of Wales. We all know that 45 likes his flip'n blue suit. I've got much more serious issues with this piece of shit.
That tan suit was SHARP. Trump just looks like a snotty little kid who made his parents fight him to get him dressed up for church, and is an annoying brat all through the service.
Yep. Obama always looked good, even in Dad jeans. He still does. He looks like he owns a mirror.
Trump always, always, looks rumpled and as though his suits need a visit to the dry cleaners.
Yes, and he fell asleep again. Normal people, if they want to sleep through the service, take a place near the back. Poor Donnie, needs to be seen, but can’t keep his eyes open so everyone sees. Even Melania couldn’t keep him awake. Sad.
The world was so different.. I never paid particular attention to the US with Bush as prez, it was clear that the world would not get any better with him. But when Obama entered, I unexpectedly felt so relieved, I cried. Everything good seemed suddenly possible. What a difference to todays feelings.
My youngest kids were 8 and 10 in 2008. The world was opening new horizons. They probably didn't realize the impact of Republican obstruction, at least before later adolescence heading off to college. But the idealism was there. Since 2016, they've been bracing for the worst. Heading into darkness.
So they grew up with a world that was full of promises and hope, and then had to endure the slide into, as you say, darkness. I´m so sorry that young adults havent had more years of this everything-is-possible when becoming an adult, its indeed so terrible that I never got kids in the first place. 😕
They have both questioned having children due to the climate crisis. They are 27 and 29 now, and have things they want to achieve. Both have partners and now do want kids. Like their dad, they remain idealists and, as Gandalf said, it's "just a fool's hope."
I was born in ´78, climate was clearly heading in the wrong direction to not have kids. Now I have a niece age 5. I´m devastated that they grow up in a world full of limits and ends, not the wide range of opportunities people my age had in their early years. We had more than a fools hope to bank on.
Pointing out hypocrisy is not culture war. I don’t know why you think it is. It’s important to point out obvious hypocrisy. Do you think this is the only thing we’re talking about? You’re acting like this is the only thing anyone is talking about. It’s not. And you know that. So stop.
There’s hypocrisy in criticizing fashion choices (culture wars), and hypocrisy in saying “no one is above the law” when a judge defends someone appearing in court as compared to electing a 34 times convicted felon as though no laws whatsoever apply to him.
I appreciate your point, but aesthetics matter. This is more than culture war fodder. His aesthetics are both a symbol and a manifestation of his thinking, his ethics, and his way of being.
In the starkest terms possible, in this setting, his aesthetics are screaming to us how out of touch he is.
Yes, we should talk about this! He and his team are clueless, disrespectful, and dangerous. Imagine showing up at the Pope's funeral in a blue suit with a blue tie.
By their aesthetics, you shall know them. It is really important for folks to be talking about this!
Melania claims to be a practicing Catholic. As a divorcee married to cradle Catholic, I did not have my previous marriage annulled. We were not married in Catholic Church. My husband is not supposed to take Eucharist bc he is currently committing a mortal sin and not in a state of grace. Does she?
He has the look at me, look at me vibe going on and didn’t want to blend into the crowd. Might as well worn a red suit with a spinning bow tie. Classless clod.
Comments
It's too awful.
Trump on the other hand just refuses to follow etiquette protocol. It was a funeral for the Pope for Gods6 sake. Not a photo up for Mr Blue Suit.
Trump is a classless asshole.
Trump always, always, looks rumpled and as though his suits need a visit to the dry cleaners.
Thank god he brought his care giver incase of an accident. 💩
A fool being a joyful soul, of course.
My middle refusedand got a vasectomy
My daughter had one for 8 years and then had 2 covid babies 😭
The 2 least Jesus like people in America representing us at the Pope’s funeral. On brand.
The things that matter are actually killing people, and the right wing radicals are destroying WAY TOO MANY LIVES.
I can tell the difference.
In the starkest terms possible, in this setting, his aesthetics are screaming to us how out of touch he is.
Dress-code”
Very simple, you would have imagined even he could follow it.
Black suit
Long Black tie.
He wore,
Bright Blue Suit
Bright Blue Tie.
Was it an act of defiance
No Pope will tell me what today.
Or did he not understand code ?
Trump = The Needle in the Haystack.
Obama has class!
Inquiring minds want to know.
By their aesthetics, you shall know them. It is really important for folks to be talking about this!
Trump? Not so much.
It is tempered by the class of the picture on the right.
Such a hypocrite 🙄…Duh
TRUMP did it on Purpose!
