Such politicians don't care that they make things worse. They only care about increasing their control over education. They are the people who increasingly blighted the profession I loved and who increasingly blighted the education of our children.

Honestly any teacher will tell you that you don't motivate others by going on about how great you yourself are and how inadequate everyone else's efforts are. This is massively disappointing from Labour.

Tangentially related: a while ago the admin at my school told me they'd like to have me ad a TA (I'm currently MSA) though they don't currently have openings. I'd... like to? I love the kids and interacting with them. But some of the discipline stuff (reward systems, silent voices, etc.) puts me off

and the fact I don't think the gov wants to change anything substantial is the nail in the coffin. I come from IT, got a full day interview coming: I'd consider earning less if it I felt that we were poised to take a leaf off Estonia and Finland. Instead more of the same. :/

Many of the trachers in our friends circle are considering leaving and it's mainly because of how they're treated: poor work life balance, lack of independence and Victorian ideas of education from management. Grim.

How depressing. Praising Gove rather acknowledging the damage he has done is unlikely to endear her to the teaching profession. Also as someone who watched schools in my locality destroyed by academy chains I don’t share her enthusiasm. No wonder my neighbour is quitting teaching after 10 years.

Clearly oblivious of the fact that most teachers quit within 5 years of qualifying & that there is a concerning rise in the number of school aged children being diagnosed with anxiety & depression.
