The new variant of H5N1, D1.1, has now spread to cows in Arizona as well as Nevada.

Also, a second person has caught the new variant from a backyard flock in Wyoming.

It's confirmed the Nevada worker caught D1.1 from a cow.

Both variant samples were sequenced and had mutations to improve spread.
