It's always based in mixing up biological gender (that's actually not as straightforward as social narratives lead people to believe at all) and gender identity. People don't really choose much of either; this is about accepting the variety that factually exists with gender identities.

It's funny because the bigots are actually closing their eyes from the facts and framing what they're doing to be the opposite. Not very different from what some nastier religious people are doing with religion.

It is. It's been that to me all my life in various aspects of life, having the viewpoint of a neurodivergent person who doesn't believe social narratives at all. It's all in my face, and the more I learned after childhood, the more in my face it's been.
