Today is George Washington's birthday.
But if you saw a calendar when he was born in 1732, it would have said Feb. 11, not Feb. 22.
When the British calendar switch from Julian to Gregorian was finalized in 1752, he—like many (most?) Americans—started marking his birthday on the "New Style" date.
