Left-isolationism should have been killed as a morally acceptable stance by the way that Trump has nakedly demonstrated how isolationism is an inherently imperialist worldview. But alas

To be fair, the alternative posed to isolationism over the past few years has been "the American rules-based international order (pronounced hegemony) should sort it out", and that's looking far worse!
To be fair, that’s only because you losers gave up on being decent and insisted that the only way through was to cause the maximum amount of suffering.
Like this is the fundamental stupidity here: the isolationists have gotten what they wanted. This is what that looks like. This is literally the only form that was on offer. What existed before was, by comparison, less bad.
That’s fair—there’s no way to go back in time and start working on an EU army the moment Powell started waving yellow cake around at the UN. We are where we are.
For as long as powerful countries exist you get to choose between their actions being vaguely guided by some sort of ethical code (even when it's faulty) and their actions not being guided by any kind of code. There is no scenario where they magically do not act.
They're not behaving isolationist, they're just trying to make new & worse friends. Instead of NATO it's the AFD, that hungarian dictator (if I'm remembering the right country) and Bolsanaro in Brazil. It's a lib sounding idea, but I do fully believe they're doing Putin's work. It's foreign sabotage
"Bad for [making the] Europe [I, an authcomm, like to fantasize about]"
Incredibly embarrassing watching people who sincerely believe themselves to be materialists defending a "sphere of influence" scheme from 60 years ago. "Oh, but see during the USSR...!"
Putin praises Stalin and stalinists believe Russia is still somehow the vanguard against the capitalist "West"
It's like if Trump praised fdr but did nothing else differently and liberals started supporting him. Unhinged shallowness
Isolation enables imperialism. The isolationist's response to imperialism is to let it happen. If every country that would oppose imperialism draws in on itself, an imperialist power can pick them off one by one.
It shouldn't have been a thing before either. Go ahead and explain why every extreme right-wing party in Europe universally hates the European Union and campaigns on being less integrated? These folks can't agree on anything except for "EU bad" and "immigration bad if wrong skin color"
