There's a distinction between the information provided to the elite and the propaganda broadcast to the masses. The elite understand that they need accurate info to pursue their goals. That's why the FT is "left" of all but 1 UK newspapers. Reality is not right wing.

What happened is they NEVER GOT half of what was promised.

ISW are fairly reliable. I've been following the war from the start. On Reddit, /r/ukraine is the place to learn about it from the Ukrainians themselves.

In the early days of the invasion, there were retirees running around with rocket launchers stopping Russian columns in their own neighborhoods.

Also: Don't listen to anyone who says the Russians invaded to root out Nazis. EVERY country has some Nazis. But it's the Russian regime that is a de facto fascist regime; their Wagner Group mercenaries were literally named for the Nazis' favorite composer.

(The operations leader of Wagner, who named it, had Nazi tattoos. He died along with Prigozhin on that Wagner jet which had a bomb planted on it under Putin's orders.)
