He didnt "fail," he never intended to and he is explicitly friendly to the aggressors. God I wish mainstream media stopped indulging the fantasy that he was ever serious in his intent to do so.

It's fucked up. Our media has incredible normalcy bias and that's part of what has got us into this and what's keeping us from getting out. The sanewashing prevents people from seeing the urgency of the situation, accepting that nothing will ever be the same again and working towards something new.
Why is anyone calling them peace negotiations when they don’t include Ukraine? It’s infuriating. Also people talking about imposing a settlement on Ukraine. It’s like, they literally cannot do that
Because they want the image of bland impartiality and balance, even when that requires outright lying about shit that makes one side look even more irredeemably evil.
FT is one of the last great newspapers and it is embarrassing that they refuse to call it how it is: that Donald Trump quite literally does not care if every last Ukrainian and Palestinian are dead.
I don't think super highly of British papers in general. Still, in terms of US internal politics I would expect something like objectivity that US pubs cannot execute, but aside from op-ed pieces they seem to struggle with Trump.
Yeah... face-value analysis of the processes and actions of the Trump regime is always just a bit too clever.
By all means try, but any journalist trying to unpick Trump should remember that a completely kneejerk 'orange man bad' view has had better predictive power than the finest analysts so far.
