The Diamond Sea is genuinely one of my most favourite SY songs (and I listen to the 26 minute version of it in order to have more of it) but, yeah, they're better at songs than at noodling, and NYC Ghosts isn't that strong an album (and they ditched the vocal from one its best songs in that set)

Remember one year at ATP, Low got a few snide heckles along the lines of: ‘play another song with harmonies.’
Then at some festival in the USA years later they played 30 mins of noise from an early record and got panned for that.

Imagine heckling Low just for being Low. SY said they were perplexed by the reaction as they figured ATP would be a receptive crowd but it was too much. They're strongest in the common ground between Kim, Thurston and Lee, but the set was too Kim. It may have worked if there had been more variety
