Hard disagree. His reporting on SNY about the Soto deal after the fact is embarrassing and enough for any Mets fan never to believe him again. Passan’s column directly refuted everything he said. He seems to be on the outside looking in now.
If the latest reporting on Pete is true I am very down right now.
The Mets made what they perceived as a last-ditch effort to sign Pete Alonso by offering him a three-year contract in the $68 million to $70 million range and, when that was rejected, began their pivot away, The Post has learned.
So the 3/$90 from Baerga reported that everyone went nuts about for Pete not taking wasn’t real? Weird. It’s like all the Mets fans and beats are flying blind.
If that is the amount that Pete wants the Mets and Pete are rally only $10-$12m apart. Thats not small change but you think there is a a way to meet in the middle and be happy
Both actually. It was badly handled by Pete, I have no doubt, but I was hoping the Mets could still find a way to yes. People who have followed me for a long time know I have loved Pete unequivocally since day 1
