i think the miracle of making art is not in the skill of it but in the heart of it—what the act of creation does for a person, what it crystallizes in the soul. that's what ultimately depresses me the most about tech's drive to use AI

Yeah, I think it really drives home that a lot of people perceive art to just be pretty/entertaining things, when the whole goal of art is to communicate or evoke something.
they've hyperfocused on acceptability for consumption and the replication of skill but that's never been the crux of art's transformative nature. it's enthusiasm for efficient capitalism over art's ability to speak not only to others but OURSELVES
My “art” medium is Procion dyes. I use them with ice to create clothing items that are unique & colourful. I do this for my mental health, I need to keep my brain occupied at times when the darkness creeps in, so I work with dyes. It makes me happy, it’s how I fight back. It matters to me.
