Having read every single one of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid books, and having matured, I just now come to terms with the fact that the Heffley family is absolutely terrible. And I'm so happy that young kids who read the series don't realize that yet.

I mean, think about it. Greg's dad is a fucking egotist who can't get his hands off of the damn Civil War set he owns. Both he and Holly spoil the hell out of their third son because they failed raising the first two, and as a result, Greg is a friendless sociopath.
The only good kid to come out of the batch was Rodrick, and now that I think about it, you can't really blame him for how he treats Greg and the rest.
And if that's not enough, they're members of an HOA. You can't get much more "White American family" than that.
