Completely agreed. I find it amusing that everyone is talking about theft, and arms race, but Amazon-Miscrosoft and all, are announcing R1 on their servers. Open source is good for everyone.

You didn’t address the points on his essay at all, much less make a case that Amodei “missed the point”.

If you disagree with his assessment of how these models compare, explain. Suggesting “closed” is inherently inferior is laughable.

You don’t seem to grasp the reason for export controls at all.

I read it closely. Your second paragraph just says you doubt Amodei’s take without much substance. I've used R1 for code problems it should have done great at, but in most cases the results were worse than Claude 3.5 Sonnet and took much longer to produce (though typically at a lower cost).
