The places that have more residents within 5 miles of downtown than Baltimore does are the usual suspects: Boston, NYC, Philly, DC, Chicago, LA, SF. Las Vegas makes a surprise appearance due largely to geographical constraints. Baltimore even has more than Miami depending on where you drop the dot.

So yeah Baltimore is smaller than the other 4 northeast cities and the imperial outposts Chicago LA and SF but really Baltimore is the most "city" city of the rest of the places in the country, meanwhile we get treated like St. Louis or Cleveland which is kind of wild
